Asayama Ichiden-ryu Hyōhō Shurikenjutsu training has now officially begun in earnest!
In Kurosawa Sensei’s online shurikenjutsu lessons, we primarily study Negishi-ryū — the only classical ryuha devoted entirely to shuriken.
However, we had also planned to develop training in Asayama Ichiden-ryu alongside it.
And now…
It has finally started in full scale.
What’s the Difference?
While Negishi-ryu throws with the left foot forward,
Asayama Ichiden-ryu Hyōhō throws with the right foot forward.
That alone already changes:
- Body alignment
- Distance control
- Timing and rhythm
But that’s not all.
In Asayama Ichiden-ryu, we do not only use an overhand (upper hand) throw —we also practice underhand throws.
And one of the most fascinating elements is a technique called:
“Nage-nuki”
After throwing the shuriken,
you immediately throw the handle (tsuka) directly into the same hand that just released the shuriken.
It demands precision, control, and presence of mind.
