[NEW VIDEO] The Fastest and Most Rational Jō Techniques Can Now be Learned at Home

Hello everyone. Thank you for reading this article. I’m Shogo from Let’s ask Shogo, the interpreter of the online lessons and owner of this website.

1. What is This Video About?

As we recently announced on our blog, we have finally started online lessons at Shun Jō. A video announcing this has been released. In this video, there was an introduction of the actual forms that students can learn within the online lessons.

2. Why Should You Absolutely Watch it?

The distinctive feature of Asayama Ichiden Ryu’s Shun Jō is its rationality and quickness. As the name suggests, it repeats attacks continuously like a falcon without giving the opponent any chance to counterattack. This is done using the techniques of Asayama Ichiden Ryu Kenjutsu. This kind of technique is not easily learned in other Ryuha styles of Jō.

How fast is it really? Please watch the video and see for yourself. If you are interested in learning it, please join our online lessons.

3. What are Some Points NOT Discussed in the Video But Shared Here?

In this video, we have introduced Kata, but in actual practice, we start with the practice swinging. There are actually dozens of different types of practice swings alone, so the practice of Shun Jō begins with mastering them. After that, you can finally practice the kata shown in this video.

Seki Sensei demonstrates all the techniques as if they were easy, but the truth is that you cannot move that smoothly without a great deal of practice. I plan to publish a video on Shun Jō practice swinging in the future.

This class is very fun. It’s great to learn culture, history, and self defense techniques that can be applied just by grabbing something you might have nearby, or on a walk or a hike.

The physical effects of this class are great too – it’s quite the workout. I encourage everyone to pick up a broom and watch these videos, and try the class!!!
